Fabricating Historically Accurate 200-Year-Old Windows

You could buy expensive historical-style windows from a big window manufacturer. Although the windows may look historical, you know they will not last another 200 years on your property because the craftsmanship is different from what it used to be. As the steward of the historic property, that doesn't sit well with you...

This is the dilemma our homeowner customer faced in Salem, Massachusetts. We are helping him fabricate his historical windows by building window frames the old way with modern technology to last another 200 years.

We are doing this by starting with rough-sawn Sapele lumber and processing it into all the materials for the window sill, jams, rails, and casing. We fasten everything with dominos and use only stainless steel screws to ensure the product lasts for the next generations taking care of this property! We are also reusing the original window sashes!

At Vestige, we are contemporary master craftsmen who pay homage to the historic artisans of our region by combining their time-honored techniques with modern technologies. We build products that will last centuries, just like our predecessors!
